See what you are missing!

Well, holidays are over for another year. Children back in school, college offspring are hopefully outta your house for a while. Oh I know, it was great having them all around during Hanukkah, Christmas, and New Year’s but damn, I’m sure you’re enjoying renewed peace and quiet offered around your castle.
College kids have quit hanging on your refrigerator door, your car is dirty, out of gas, ran your laundry 24/7 and left no laundry soap. Likely the last word they muttered was “Hey can you send me a little more money each month for food?” Well, you’re not naïve, it’s going for beer not food! Right?

An unusual Christmas week at both Sopra Mare and Bordo Mare. This is the first time since they were built neither villa was rented. But hey, I’m a “half full” kinda guy and took this as a great opportunity to get things done.

  • Both pools had new plaster

  • Pool tile replaced

  • Solar power installed

  • Power washing and paint

  • Plenty of miscellaneous small stuff

Lots of money out – none in, but after nearly going broke last year from post hurricane expenses, I’ve become accustom to plenty of bucks going out!
Unless you are a past guest over the last couple of years you don’t know. Most villas provide a small basket of junk snacks when you arrive – a few power bars, bottle of water and maybe some nuts and crackers.
Well I figured most of my guests arrive late afternoon - exhausted, hungry and thirsty. So, in 2016 we started something entirely different. Arriving couples got a full chicken dinner, sides and a bottle of wine generally from Starfish Market.
But Now! We’ve outdone even that, and UPPED the bar for all villas! (In fact, I think I’m the only one to do this).
Starting end of last month my guests get a full dinner, bottle of wine delivered from Sam & Jacks. Just my way of saying “Thanks” for staying with me and how much I appreciate each and every guest.
This dinner consists of various main courses depending on what they have made for us. Sometimes it will be Lasagna or Eggplant Parmesan or just maybe Stromboli always with a salad, bread and of course, a bottle of wine and enough to feed four of you hungry tired guests.
These meals have proven to be a big hit and now guests don’t need to go grocery shopping arrival day.
Just sit back eat, drink and listen to the ocean.

I’m lucky to have so many great past guests! When the hurricane hit many of them just rolled reservations over to 2019. Consequently I am full at both villas every single nite to mid-April.
That being said, Summer is close and if you want to have a week at either Sopra Mare or Bordo Mare better move quick!

With solar again up and running at both places my electric bills are reasonable. Therefore prices in 2019 will be pretty much the same as previous years.

I’m again going to discount rental rates for my “Value Season” of Aug 17th-Oct 4th for two guests by 30%. If you’re crazy enough to come during hurricane season it’s something to think about – yeah, a storm could hit, but with travel insurance you’ll be fine.

With the exception of “Value Season,” readers of this newsletter will receive a 5% discount on any rental. Of course, past guests receive a whole lot more of a discount.

I sincerely think 2019 will be a very high occupancy year for me. It’s not too soon to consider a Summer and Fall St. John trip or you may get closed out for your “perfect week!”

For those of you experiencing withdrawal - Yep, I’ll have a beach for you next month! Promise!!
Hope you liked the information provided and maybe it’ll add to your St. John vacation experience. Don't forget you can connect with me at: Mulley's St. John Villas on Facebook or phone me at (972) 679-9937 with any questions.

Enjoy the remainder of Winter wherever you are. I’ll “Leave The Lite On For You” at your new island home – Bordo Mare or Sopra Mare. See all of you soon.
