It was the perfect house for two couples who, in addition to enjoying the island activities, liked to hang out at the pool, watch the action on the ocean (the cruise ships glowing at night were great), and cook our meals after a fun day. There are many positives to Sopra Mare. After a long day of travel from the western U.S., Mike had dinner waiting for us at the house. No rush to a restaurant or store, just start relaxing! The views are outstanding and the location is convenient to everything. Mike responds to your emails quickly. Be sure to read the letter he sends you when you book the house as it has lots of helpful information. Also, be sure to read Mike’s book “Keep Left.” It gives you some wonderful insight into the island. “We enjoyed a week at the beautiful Sopra Mare. We were absolutely overcome by the breathtaking and panoramic ocean views. The villa is sited perfectly to catch the tropical breezes and we very much enjoyed the outside pool, terraces, and balconies. In fact, we found ourselves outside for the majority of our stay! The house is perfectly equipped with everything we needed. The owner is incredibly responsive and responsible as well. You cannot go wrong at Sopra Mare! If you are looking for true privacy, relaxation, and beauty, this is your spot!”

“We just got back from a week at Sopra Mare. Mike was professional and easy to work with. The house was the perfect layout. Open dining/living/deck area overlooking the pool (convenient for watching kids in the pool while parents sit on the deck), 2 bedrooms right across the hall from each other (again, especially convenient for families), laundry on the main floor, beautiful kitchen, great Bose portable Bluetooth speakers. But the best feature was the view - there’s a wall of windows overlooking the sea - magnificent. You’ll love it.”

“We spent a week at Sopra Mare. The owner, Mike, was easy to work with before our arrival, responding quickly to emails. The home is clean, comfortable, open, light and has spectacular views, including sunrises and sunsets. We loved sleeping with our door wide open to the sound of the surf and with warm breezes washing over us. If you get tired of the beaches or want a late night dip, the pool awaits. The kitchen is well stocked and the owner even provided food for our first meal. All-in-all a fabulous experience and we highly recommend Sopra Mare.”

“Our 7th visit to St. John and our first stay at Sopra Mare was a highly anticipated trip and Sopra Mare did not disappoint. Mike and Colleen were fantastic to work with from start to finish, making our planning and arrival a breeze. St. John is a wonderfully beautiful island, with breathtaking beaches and eclectic shops and folks to match. We have always rented villas for our visits and Sopra Mare has quickly moved to the top of the A-rated list. The villa is beautiful, wonderfully maintained and the views are picturesque to say the least. There are a couple of things I’d like to mention that set Sopra Mare above the rest. Number one, the driveway. You might think this insignificant, but trust me, some of the driveways on the island are not for the faint of heart. Sopra Mare provides and easy in, easy out flat driveway (relatively unheard of on the island) that makes for a comfortable arrival/departure, day or night. Number 2, the pool! This was our very first rental that we actually used the pool. Most villas have one, but they are ice cold this time of year. Not Sopra Mare. The water temps were 84 degrees our entire stay and it was magnificent. To come in from a day at the beaches and have the opportunity to float, relax and gaze at the sunset was an absolute highlight. And an added bonus, the fancy in pool lighting made night swimming an experience.

I have already begun throwing coins into our St. John jar for our [next] visit and Sopra Mare will definitely be our final Caribbean destination from here on out.

“We arrived on STJ, and enjoyed our stay at Sopra Mare. Prior to our visit, the owner (Mike) was quick to respond to our questions, and offer advice, etc.
Customer service is top-notch, especially the added bonus of having a meal ready for you on your first night. That was a very nice touch given we were exhausted from a full day of travel. The villa - met our expectations, was comfortable, and was a great place to relax after a day at the beach. Fully furnished with all your basic needs. The neighborhood is quiet. The location is very convenient. The evenings were very pleasant with the views and sounds of the ocean. Sitting on the porch or balconies at night was a great way to end the day. My daughters enjoyed the pool in the evening as well. The king bed was very comfortable and we slept great. Rooms have A/C and cool down very nice. The views are very nice and add to the ambiance of the villa. We spent most of our days either on the beach or taking a boating trip, thus, after a long day, it was great to come back to the villa and relax... We were very pleased with our stay at Sopra Mare and would highly recommended it. We will stay here again when we return. Overall, fantastic villa!!”

“My family and I arrived in St. John, exhausted after a long day of travel including plane, taxi, ferry and rental car. It was wonderful to find a dinner waiting for us. The house [Sopra Mare] was perfect. Just a beautiful spot overlooking the ocean. So conveniently located, only minutes to town. We spent each day exploring the island, going to different beaches (snorkeling with the turtles, rays and fish of every color shape and size). Skinny Legs for a late lunch one afternoon, happy hour in town the next. Eat in or dine out, it was all so wonderful and relaxing.
